The court asterism on Bing
Bing runs from 157.5 to 172.5 degrees, centred on 165. It is a stem mountain with no animal or hour, the sector between Si and Wu, due south, the three forming the Li trigram. Its opposite is Ren at 345, so sitting Bing faces Ren.
The star ring places Taiwei here. In the sky maps the Taiwei enclosure is where the court sits in rank around the throne, each officer in his place. The imagery is order of precedence and the business of state, and there it ends; it does not say a site on Bing yields ministers.
An ordinary star on an elegant mountain
Two rules meet here and are not added together. Bing is one of the six elegant mountains, a rule for sand and water: a clean, upright peak on Bing is a xiu peak. Taiwei is the Tianxing pairing for the same sector, ordinary, not noble.
The reading in Ganzhou is passed on plainly: the star ring is read last and never as an apology for a weak form. When a xiu peak stands on Bing, or the facing hills there stand in a neat row like officers at court, Taiwei confirms that order. When Bing holds a scarred slope, a leaning tower or nothing at all, it confirms nothing. An ordinary star repeats the hill; it does not raise a site by a grade.
What this means on the ground
Taiwei sits in the Bing sector of the star ring. At a grave, stand behind the stone along its face, level the plate, three readings. Sight the southern peaks across the centre; those between 157.5 and 172.5 are Bing peaks. Look for a clean outline, a whole top, no spur aimed at the site. Several peaks of even height in that sector are read as a row.
At a house or shop, stand inside the front door facing out. A tidy building, a neat ridge or a line of roofs on 165 degrees is the Bing sand. A reading near 158 or 172 is on the line with Si or Wu; move a step and sight again.
Common mistakes
Reading rank into the name. Court and ranks sound like promotion, so people expect office from a Bing peak; the star confirms an orderly form and says nothing about a career. Counting the elegant mountain and the star as two good marks; they are one bearing read by two rules.
Measuring from a map or a satellite view, where a few metres of error in where you stand moves a near peak from Bing into Wu. Reading the star on a phone or a plain compass; the pairing lives on the school's own ring. Setting the compass to true north overseas and landing in the wrong mountain.
Questions people ask
What is the Taiwei star in feng shui?
Taiwei, Supreme Subtlety, is the Tianxing star paired with Bing, the mountain at 165 degrees. Its name is the imperial court asterism: court, ranks, administration. It is an ordinary star that confirms an orderly peak or row of hills on Bing.
Is Bing an elegant mountain?
Yes. Bing is one of the six elegant mountains with Gen, Xun, You, Xin and Ding. A clean, upright peak on Bing is a xiu peak by the landform rule, and Taiwei confirms it. The grade belongs to the hill, not to the bearing alone.
Does Taiwei make a house good for a career?
No. The school does not forecast careers from a star name. If the hills or buildings on 165 degrees outside your door are neat and orderly, Taiwei agrees with that form; if they are broken or absent, it adds nothing.
